How Do You Handle 40 Million Photo Uploads A Day?
This is a problem you will face when going to work for one of the largest social networking applications online. Facebook’s datacenters store more than 40 billion photos, and users upload over 40 million new photos each day.
Facebook has recently surpassed 200 million users and is reportedly seeking up to $100 million for additional servers.
At aroundly $1000 a server with 1TB of diskspace, that funding gets 100PetaBytes of disk space, unless those 40billion pictures are bigger than 25Mb each, that should be plenty space.
I’m sure at 100%, that the Facebook have enough money to do so, the loss of each user’s social network is very bad impact on business Facebook.
Wow those are numbers I can’t even fathom and with less than 1000 employees. Awesome
is facebook now more bigger than yahoo ..I think alsmost all internet user has a facebook account
